PHP Security Update:

Your Website Is Updated and Being Monitored

As you may be aware, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the tech industry issued an emergency alert regarding a global PHP-related issue. As all of our custom-built WordPress websites require the use of PHP, we quickly took action and applied the necessary updates where possible within hours of the announcement. We understand that many of you received alerts about the potential for serious repercussions, so we want to reassure all of our clients that we’ve addressed the issue where we can and are continuing to protect the websites we manage.

The good news: All of the newer websites we manage have been updated, and our current checks indicate that they appear safe. We’re continuing to monitor the situation closely and remain alert for anything unusual.

For our clients with older websites built on systems that require prior versions of PHP: Updating will require more substantial work to upgrade to the safely patched versions of PHP. We will reach out individually to all affected clients shortly with suggestions for moving forward.

What Is PHP, and Why Does It Matter?

PHP is a programming language that helps power many websites, including all WordPress sites. Think of it as part of the engine behind your website. It helps process information, display content, and make features like contact forms and other interactive tools work.

Like any software, PHP occasionally needs updates to address bugs, improve performance, or fix security concerns. When an issue is identified, applying the appropriate patch helps correct the problem and reduce potential risks.

A patch is simply a targeted software fix. Much like repairing a faulty lock rather than replacing an entire door, a patch addresses a specific issue while allowing the rest of the system to continue working as intended.

What We’ve Done to Protect Your Website

When the issue came to our attention, we took steps to ensure that as many of the websites we manage were updated with the necessary fixes.

Our work doesn’t stop once an update is installed. We’re taking a proactive approach to monitoring to identify potential concerns and respond quickly if anything changes.

Our current efforts include:

  • Keeping software up to date: All websites we manage have been updated with the necessary patches.
  • Automated monitoring: Our monitoring systems continuously help us identify unusual activity and potential problems.
  • Manual traffic inspections: We’re also reviewing website traffic ourselves, looking for suspicious patterns or activity.

At this time, our checks indicate that the vast majority of websites we manage appear safe. While no security measure can guarantee that a website will never encounter a problem, we’re taking this situation seriously.
